Here were my thoughts as I watched the trailer.
1.
Okay, Sarah Paulson. THIS is how the performance succeeds.

Paulson’s statement that the hallway is shaped like a “clown’s cervix” is a “man trying to write dialogue for a woman” kind of thing, as I’m not sure I’ve ever heard a real woman describe something as “looks like a cervix” in any context, but I also appreciate the unique imagery and am always here when I want to learn more about female anatomy.

Kim K and Niecy Nash are a stylish couple to say the least. I’m really excited to see Nash in this role – she was iconic in it Dahmer.

Sarah Paulson looks GOOD too. I’m kind of excited about it.

Really strategic use of Britney Spears’ “Work Bitch” here.

Brooke Shields, Glenn Close AND Naomi Watts? This cast is stacked.

I love that when a man first appears in the trailer (and pretty much every time after that), he completely breaks down.

“Men. They are terribly afraid of women in power,” a woman in a pantsuit says to two other women in pantsuits. So true, Glenn Close, so true. This show could be a Disney movie for (some) women and a horror movie for (some) men.

Personally, I feel like only weak, spineless men are afraid of women in power, and I’d like to see more portrayals of balanced men on screen who are more than happy to appreciate and follow powerful women, but that’s just me.

“I tell my clients every day: You never really know a person. It’s just a trap.” Okay, I can’t help but imagine that it was pretty satisfying for Kim K to say this after her horrific divorce from Kanye West (and ongoing co-parenting efforts with him).

“Every tear you shed costs $100,000 in your pocket.” That’s definitely what Taylor Swift was talking about when she sang about “girl-bossing” on Way Too Close to the Sun The life of a showgirl, and I’m kind of here for it.

I think it will be really satisfying to watch. I recently heard the statistic that 70% of divorces are reportedly initiated by women, and it just seems like a sensible time in general for a show like this.

I’m totally here for whatever happens with Sarah Paulson, in this setting and in this trailer in general.

Calling each other “whores” and “barren” insults? Maybe not the best display of female friendship and solidarity, but something tells me that’s not what this is about.
