We made some good progress in the house this year, but the big one will still come. Of course I talk about our bedroom renovation! Here is a small look at what the room looks like now. We will change pretty much everything. This exaggerated wallpaper? It’s definitely on the way outside. For a long time I was not quite sure which direction I should take with this room. But now that I finally have a clear vision, I am ready to get started – and I can’t wait to bring you to life!
Bedroom at the moment
The basics
Before we come to the funny part, we first have to tackle some boring but necessary tasks. First we will deal with some persistent problems, e.g. B. moisture on the walls, the move of a cooler and the update of the electrical system behind the television. We had some smaller outer cracks near the windows, which enabled moisture to seep into the inner walls, and as a result the old wallpaper began to peel. That has now been repaired, but we want it not to check new cracks before we set up fresh wallpaper just to avoid it happening again. Then we plan to do all electrical work at the same time, including the proper hidden of the television wires. The cooler is probably also moved to another wall in order to have the room function better. I will be honest, I’m not a big fan of a television in the bedroom, but my husband loves it, so we have compromised in a Samsung frame TV that looks like works of art when it is out. We already have one in our fireplace and have deceived so many guests! If you have missed this revision, you can see the complete transformation here.
New flooring
Oak parquet floors in the hall
As soon as the essential work is no longer on the way, we can finally concentrate on the exciting part. Of course I’m talking about new floors! At the moment the room is provided with carpets, but because of my allergies for dust mites, I am absolutely a matter of allergen -friendly change like wooden floors that do not catch a dust. I currently take a wooden floor in the parquet in the parquet-es is not only visually timeless, but also a practical option for everyday life. We have parquet on the ground floor and it’s absolutely beautiful! I ordered a few oak samples in search of the perfect sound – something with a natural, slightly aged look that complements the period of the room. I haven’t found the perfect yet, but I get closer. Since our wooden bed and our side tables remain, it is really important that the new floors fit well with these existing parts and connects the whole room seamlessly.
WALLPAPER

I am very excited! I was looking for the perfect wallpaper whatever feels like, and I’ve finally found the one. I knew that I wanted to inspire something by nature, ideally with a tree or a botanical topic, but I was still not sure whether the color palette was not safe. That changed a few weeks ago when I took part in the start of Sian Zeng’s new bamboo wall picture collection in the Argile showroom in the King’s Road. I have admired their work for a long time and they may remember that we have them Hai trees Mural in our dining room, which I still admire every day. All of their murals are drawn by hand and produced with sustainable materials, and the quality of the time really passed. What makes this even more exciting is that this time I go to the feature wall. I plan to wallpaper every single wall in the bedroom! It’s a bit brave, but I think the result will be nice, cozy and timeless. The bamboo wall picture is not only visually breathtaking, but also incredibly durable, which it does perfectly for a room like the bedroom. I can’t wait to see how it all gets together … Although we can be honest, there is still a lot to do before we come to this stage.

Painting decisions
The ceiling needs a fresh layer of color to supplement the new wallpaper. We also have to take off the old structured wallpaper – honestly, why was that ever something?! I lean into a cream -colored shadow with subtle gray undertones, somewhat soft and grounding. Something like Argile Mat Velouté, which is ultra matt and works wonderfully on blankets. In order to create a coherent appearance, we plan to paint the skirt boards in the same shadow and keep everything harmonious and reserved.
Mix the old and new

This part is still a little in the air because I will only buy new furniture after the decoration has been completed. Nevertheless, I tend to mix upcycled and vintage finds from Etsy or Ebay. I don’t strive for perfectly coordinated pieces, in fact I prefer a more versatile, collected look. We already have a beautiful wooden bed in the French style, so I would like to balance it with a few modern elements. I have always dressed from interiors that mix old and new – they feel much more layered and full of character than rooms that strictly hang on an era or style (if that makes sense?). I also kept an eye on a few breathtaking mother-of-pearl tables and would definitely like to introduce a splash of color somewhere in the room to keep things fresh and unexpected.
Window associations

Another task for the last phases is the window treatments. I plan to be spatial -high French wrinkle curtains and new blinds for the side window. I tend to add something neutral (possibly in a subtle fishbone pattern to add a little texture without overwhelming the room). Since all the walls are wallpapered, I want the window dressings feel soft and comfortable, which balances the room without competing with the mural. The goal is a quiet, multi -layered look that brings everything together beautifully.
Stay on it
So you have it – our plans (for now)! We will start the preparatory work as soon as possible, but the entire installation (wallpaper, floor coverings and everything else) will only happen next year. The room will look completely different and feel very different, and I am so excited to finally create the bedroom of my dreams.
